A Mystery Stitch









KNIT
Learn the meaning of all the abbreviations and symbols that make up the intricate patterns of cable and lace.  Starting with Volume One of the Mystery Stitch –Along you will interpret and execute step by step instructions that reveal a pattern with each row repeat. At the end of each session you will understand the meaning of:  k4, *yo, skp, p1, k2tog, yo, k8; repeat from* end last repeat k4.

Price:  $30 per session

Time:  7 - 9pm

Dates:  July 13, 20, 27 – Wednesday nights

Pre-Reqiusite: must be able to cast-on, knit and purl independently.

CROCHET

Learn the meaning of all the abbreviations and symbols that make up the intricate patterns of Basic, chevron and lace.  I have chosen a few stitches to take you beyond the single crochet stitch. Interpret and execute step by step instructions that reveal a pattern with each row repeat. At the end of each session you will be able to understand the meaning of:  1sc into first st, *5ch, 1sc into next 5ch arch, 5ch, 1sc into 3rd dc of next 5dc; rep from * ending last rep with 1sc into top of ch, turn.


Price:  $30 per session

Time:  7 – 9pm

Dates:  July 14, 21, 28 – Thursday nights

Pre-Reqiusite: must be able to chain and do a single crochet stitch independently.

TUNISIAN CROCHET RE-INVENTED


Bulky Cowl
Tunisian crochet is on the rise again, this time novel techniques such as lace patterns and working in the round are allowing for a greater variation in designs. The test piece for this class is a two colored cowl, worked in the round, using a hand crafted oversized Tunisian crochet hook with a long flexible cord. Participants will get an insight into the possibilities of using Tunisian crochet as design elements in knitting projects.

Techniques covered: casting on, estimating size, Tunisian simple stitch, Tunisian purl stitch, seed stitch pattern, working in the round with one or two colors, increases, decreases and binding off.

Ragga (raggaknits on Ravelry) is an Icelandic knitting instructor, designer, entrepreneur and the CEO of KNITTING ICELAND.  Ragga’s classes are creative and fun and enlightening. Her firm belief is that knowledge liberates you and enables her/him to think outside the charts and beyond the patterns.

Materials:  Knitting Iceland has recently put on the market an oversized hook for Tunisian crochet. Mr. Jumbo is both suitable for working on flat pieces and in the round and opens up many exciting possibilities for fiber enthusiasts.
